Spiritual Theme of Discovery
The spiritual theme of the Southern New York Assembly Area's annual Discovery convention is to:
• share experience, strength, and hope in the spirit of fun and fellowship;
• help foster a spirit of cooperation, participation, and unity within the Southern New York Assembly Area;
• offer individual members the opportunity of experiencing Al-Anon beyond the group and/or district level.

Convention Theme
The 2008 Discovery convention theme is "A World of Discovery.” Your Discovery 2008 Convention committee is working hard to prepare a convention for you that focuses on discovering your creative side. We would love it if you would come and share your experience, strength, and hope.

Dates and Location
The 2008 Discovery convention will be held August 22-24, 2008 at the Tarrytown Marriott in Tarrytown, New York.

Registration Fee
The registration fee for Discovery 2008 is $17 for all pre-registered (July 1) attendees and $23 for regular registration (August 4). The registration fee assures that you are attending the convention meetings on either Friday night, Saturday and Sunday morning as well as enjoying Friday and Saturday night's entertainment. You are also welcome to visit our Hospitality suite and to view the video of our founders story. We greatly encourage those who cannot spend the entire weekend to take advantage of the very affordable walk-in registration fee, and to enjoy as much of the fellowship as they can from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. We also suggest that you pre-register as walk-ins, so that when you arrive at the convention you do not have to wait in line to register. On-site registration is CASH ONLY. Banquet sales will close by 12 noon on Saturday. Registration closes at 3:00 PM on Saturday.

Weekend Packages
The weekend packages include everything that you get for the Registration Fee (see above), plus a Tarrytown Marriott hotel room for Friday and Saturday Night (and use of all of the hotel's facilities, including a swimming pool and workout room), Saturday breakfast, the Saturday night banquet, and Sunday breakfast. Please refer to the Discovery 2008 Registration Form for more information about this year's packages.

Registration Deadlines
The early bird registration deadline for Discovery 2008 is July 1, 2008. The regular registration deadline is August 4, 2008. We encourage you to register as early as you can.

Convention Meetings
There will be over 70 meetings to choose from at Discovery from Friday afternoon through noon on Sunday. This includes Al-Anon, Alateen and AA meetings in English, as well as Spanish-speaking Al-Anon and AA meetings. There will also be a Candlelight meeting, open-ended meetings, and a Sunrise page-of-the-day meetings.

Convention Speakers
The Discovery 2008 speakers will include an Alateen and an Al-Anon Adult Child (AAC) speaker Friday evening, an Al-Anon and AA speaker Saturday evening, and an Al-Anon spiritual speaker on Sunday morning.

Convention Entertainment
There will be entertainment at Discovery 2008 on Friday and Saturday evenings. Bring your dancing shoes!
